ANGELA WATSON (formerly Powell) has earned international recognition for her unique contributions to the field of education.  A pioneer and trailblazer of modern teacher blogging, she was first known for Ms. Powell’s Management Ideas for Teachers, a website she created in 2003 to share behavior management strategies, teaching techniques, and organizational tips. The site was expanded and renamed TheCornerstoneForTeachers in 2008.

Since then, Angela’s ideas have been featured in thousands of magazine articles, newsletters, and internet resources, and are utilized in teacher preparation and support programs throughout the nation. Having earned a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist, she currently works as an educational consultant based in Brooklyn, New York.

With 11 years of classroom experience and 7 years experience as an instructional coach, Angela continues to create resources that make teaching more effective, efficient, and enjoyable. As founder of Due Season Press and Educational Services, she has created printable curriculum resources, 4 books, 3 online courses, the Truth for Teachers podcast, and The 40 Hour Teacher Workweek Club.

Mission, purpose, and finding the right resources for YOU

Angela’s goal is to advocate for (and challenge) teachers as she supports them in truly enjoying their work so they can pass that enthusiasm on to students. Each of her resources is designed to meet a specific need that teachers often encounter:
  • If you’re overwhelmed by the day-to-day aspects of managing a classroom, read The Cornerstone and get practical teaching ideas.
  • If you’re stressed out and finding yourself hating a job you used to love, read Awakened and change your mindset.
  • If you want to reconnect with your calling and the faith-based reasons you entered the profession,  get the Awakened Devotional and uncover the biblical principles behind mindset changes.
  • If you’ve lost your passion for teaching and want to make the job fun again, read Unshakeable and learn how to enjoy teaching every day, no matter what.
  • If teaching has superseded every aspect your life and left you with no time for anything else, join the 40 Hour Teacher Workweek Club and create better balance.
  • If you’re tired of spending hours developing your own teaching materials from scratch, check out my TpT store and download ready-to-use activities and forms that simplify the way you teach.
  • If you want practical training on improving your teaching practice or expanding your career beyond the classroom, take one of my online, self-paced courses for teachers and teacherpreneurs.

All of these core offerings are designed to be supplemented by the hundreds of free resources available here on the site. You can view blog posts by category to find specific resources you need, and listen to the podcast each week for ongoing encouragement, motivation, and practical teaching ideas.
